Meet Our Primary Dermatologist
Michael W. Peterson, D.O.
Michael W. Peterson, D.O., returns to Utah Valley after serving as a medical officer and dermatologist in the United States Army for 12 years. Raised in Utah County, Dr. Peterson is a graduate of Brigham Young University (BYU). He attended medical school at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, where he received Sigma Sigma Phi honors, and was awarded the Health Professions Army Scholarship. His post-graduate training included a transitional internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, and a residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Most recently, he completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of Texas Southwestern under the direction of the world-renowned Dr. Clay Cockerell. Dr. Peterson is dual-board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology from the American Board of Dermatology.
In his clinics, Dr. Michael Peterson focuses on all aspects of general, medical, and pediatric dermatology, and has a special interest in diagnosing skin biopsies under the microscope. He also enjoys teaching patients to become more knowledgeable about managing their own skin conditions. Currently, Dr. Michael Peterson is an associate professor for the Aspen Dermatology Residency program, where he enjoys educating physicians to become dermatologists. He has given numerous CME lectures, published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, and has written chapters in dermatology textbooks. Dr. Peterson is a member of the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Dermatology. During his military career, MAJ(P) Michael Peterson was an ambassador in the field of dermatology. He served overseas on two different assignments and was the Chief of Dermatology at the 121 Hospital in Seoul, Korea.
While serving, he was awarded two Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals. Dr. Peterson served a two-year ecclesiastical service mission to Taiwan and is fluent in Chinese. He is married to Nicole Jensen Peterson, and they are blessed to have five beautiful children—three boys and two girls. They have enjoyed living in and traveling to many areas of the world, including South Korea and Puerto Rico. They currently reside in Mapleton, Utah. Josh is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. He is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Utah Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. He currently serves as the Legislative Chair for the Utah Academy of Physician Assistants advocating for patient-centered healthcare legislation. He is also an adjunct clinical instructor for Utah Valley University’s PA Program.
Josh has a passion for preventative medicine and patient education. He believes when people are accurately informed, it empowers them to participate in their healthcare. He is very grateful to be serving patients in dermatology and loves the specialty because of the wide variety of conditions that can be diagnosed through the skin. Helping individuals improve their overall health by treating dermatologic conditions impacting their daily lives and self-images is what makes him happy.
Josh pursued a career in medicine because he wants to listen, empathize, and do his best to make a difference. He excels in general medical dermatology as well as procedural, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He is experienced in performing skin cancer screenings, rash visits, biopsies, benign and malignant lesion removals, and minor surgeries. He enjoys managing conditions like acne, eczema, warts, rashes, psoriasis, skin cancer, and many others because it allows him to build relationships with his patients.
Aside from work, he enjoys anything outdoors exploring all of Utah’s beauty. Spending time with his family, running, hiking, biking, playing tennis, and barbecuing are some of his favorite things to do.

Damion specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. His warm personality and playful nature helps his younger patients feel comfortable. He is experienced in performing skin cancer screenings and removal of benign and cancerous lesions. He is practiced in the evaluation and management of numerous dermatologic conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes.
Damion has received advanced training in and enjoys doing multiple cosmetic procedures. He uses Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport to smooth fine lines and wrinkles; Juvederm and Restylane fillers to replace volume loss. He also uses lasers, microneedling and chemical peels to treat redness, dark spots and to resurface and tighten the skin. His patients often seek him out for his attention to detail and gentile approach.
In his free time, Damion loves going on adventures with his wife, four children, and their English Bulldog. They love hiking, skiing, scuba diving, and visiting national parks and other historical landmarks.
